The core finding: despite years of growing deal volume among the market’s most active sellers, roughly 75% of Lloyd’s syndicates have never engaged the legacy market as a tool for releasing trapped capital or improving capital efficiency.

The IRLA Conference in Brighton reinforced the point from another angle, with delegates pointing to softening M&A activity as a coming driver of fresh legacy deal flow. Taken together, the pricing environment and the M&A pipeline are converging on the same conclusion — the gap between the active minority and the untapped majority at Lloyd’s is one of the more obvious opportunities left in the market.
